Registration is now open for the DFI and EFFC International Conference, to be held at ExCeL London on 26-28 May 2010. Now in its 11th year in the DFI series, the event is an established date in the geotechnical calendar.
The theme of the 11th International Conference will be Geotechnical Challenges in Urban Regeneration. The programme will include of a mix of keynote presentations, case studies and interactive panel debates focusing on topics from deep basements and underground excavations to special foundations in urban regeneration.
David Sherwood, Chairman of the Organising Committee said:
“The Organising Committee is delighted that registration is now open for Geotechnical Challenges in Urban Regeneration. The response to the call for papers has been excellent and the preparation of the conference and exhibition are now well underway. The conference will appeal to all geotechnical specialists across the sector – it will be the geotechnical event of 2010 not to be missed. A programme to encourage and assist young engineers to attend is in development and further programme updates will be announced soon.”
The conference will bring together consultants, contractors, geotechnical engineers, manufacturers and suppliers from across the globe, with representation expected from the UK, Europe, Australia, North and South America. The 10th International Conference, held in Amsterdam in 2006, attracted over 350 delegates from over 45 countries and five continents.
Geotechnical Challenges in Urban Regeneration will feature expert paper presentations from over 30 authors on a range of technical, environmental and business themes. With a call for papers announcement issued in March, over 150 abstracts were received from participants in 20 countries.
A major part of the conference will be the technical tours, taking place on day two, with a visit to the Canary Wharf CrossRail Station, the 2012 Olympic Site and the Thames Barrier already confirmed. The second day will conclude with the Gala Dinner.
Delegates who register before the 28th August will receive a special £200 saving off the full delegate rate. Registration includes access to the full three day conference programme, exhibition and technical tours.
